ACF 2023 is just over a month away and to celebrate, we’re hosting a comic contest focused on highlighting Jamaican folklore. Whether it’s about Anancy, Rolling Calf, White Witch, Maroon, Slavery, or our National Heroes we want to see the universe you created with moments that shows your wildest imagination and what makes Jamaica awesome! #JamaicanSuperheroes

 

The Prompt

 

Create a 3-10-page comic social media format and size (1080x1080 or 1080x1350) that shows off an example of incredible Superheroic deeds happening with a Jamaican theme and heroes originating in Jamaica. These can be just about any genre and any moment, or just cool head-canon stories you cook up with warriors battling in the Green Grotto Caves, but they need to focus on Superheroes with a Jamaican Theme! You may only submit your entries in digital format. Show us the spirit of the Jamaican ancestors that dwell within!  

 

 

How to Enter the ACF2023 Comic Competition

 

1. Comic Submission

 

Contestants can submit one or more comics.

Submissions will be accepted beginning June 20, 2023, 11:59 PM through July 15, 2023, 11:59 PM.

Submission of a comic signifies agreement to the TERMS OF USE

The comic will be uploaded to Animecomfest.com. or email to animecomja@gmail.com. 

2. Voting

 

Entries will be uploaded on AnimeCom Fest and Animation Jamaica (JANN) Instagram and Facebook pages. Like or react to your favourite comic entry. That also means you should get all your friends and family to hit that like or react button and vote.

You are not required to submit a comic in order to vote.

 

All likes and reactions submitted by July 20, 2023, 11:59 pm will determine which comic wins the Fan favourite prize for receiving the most votes.

3. Judging

 

Winners will be determined by the panel of judges from JANN. They will select three winners from all submitted comics after submission closed on July 15, 2023.

 

Criteria for the jury are:

1. creativity and original ideas

2. clear message

3. quality of the comic

4. Most dynamic use of Jamaican Folklore

 

Winning comics will be announced online and will be featured on the AnimeComfest.com website. Winners will be notified by e-mail or DM message.

4. Prizes

 

The following winners will be selected: 

• 1st Prize: Bosto Graphic Tablet, ACF 2023 ULTRA FAN Pass for 2, $20,000 in Cash

• 2nd Prize: 162-Piece Art Drawing Set, Stan Lee's How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way, ACF 2023 SUPA Pass for 2, $10,000

• 3rd Prize: 80-Piece Art Drawing Set, How to Draw Manga Book, ACF 2020 Weekend Pass for 2

• Fan Favourite Comic (the entry that received the most likes): Bosto Graphic Tablet and 1 ACF REGULAR FAN Pass 

Winners will be notified by e-mail.

Prize awards will be handed out on July 29 at ACF 2023 (ACF Passes will be presented by July 20, 2023)

Participants of the Comic Competition agree to the TERMS OF USE

Entrants may only submit their own original works.

Submissions will be accepted between June 20, 2023 to July 15, 2023 at 11:59 pm.

AnimeCom Fest staff are ineligible to participate.

All entries may be hosted on AnimeComFest.com at the sponsor’s discretion

All submitted comics are subject to approval and may not be accepted if they are found to be offensive or in violation of copyright. See “Acceptable Site Use” in TERMS OF USE AnimeCom Fest reserve the right to use submitted comics on the AnimeComFest.com website and in other promotions, including but not limited to all other electronic or print media.
