ACF 2026 is just around the corner, and to celebrate, we’re hosting the Character of Jamaica Challenge focused on highlighting Jamaican folklore and culture. Whether it’s about Anancy, Rolling Calf, White Witch, Golden Table, Duppy, Mermaid, The National Heroes, Maroon, Enslavement, Independence, Port Royal, Pirates, REggae, Dancehall, Rasta, Ital, Jerk, Ackee, Rum, Limestone, Baxuite, Paradise, Track & Field, or the good ole Weed, we want to see your character inspiration with moments that shows your wildest imagination and what make Jamaica so uniquely awesome! #JamaicaNeedSuperheroesToo
The Prompt
Unleash your creativity in the Character of Jamaica Challenge: Pirates of the Caribbean Character Challenge! We're calling on all artists, illustrators, and dreamers to design your Jamaican and Caribbean comic or anime pirate protagonist or villain inspired by our culture, spirit, and vibrant stories. Successfully selected entries will be on display at AnimeCom, where attendees, your family and friends will vote for their favourite.

Winners' Announcement
The Winners will be announced in the afternoon of Day 2 at ACF2026. Entries will also be featured on the AnimeComfest.com website. Winners will also be notified by e-mail. Members of the Jury ACF2026 Attendees Your Family Your Friends Get everyone to vote for your entry... The more votes, the greater your chance of winning.
Selection
Successful entries will appear on the Wall of Wonder: Characters of Jamaica Gallery at ACF2026
Prizes
The following winners will be selected: $100,000 in cash and prizes to be won Winners will be notified by telephone or e-mail and announced at the event. Prize awards will be handed out on August 16, 2026* (Unless otherwise stated by ACF staff)
Voting
Winners will be determined by the votes of attendees at AnimeCom Fest Day 1 and Day 2, with voting closing at 3:00 PM on Day 2. The three entries with the highest votes win. Voting will be done by scanning a QR code on the Gallery wall, which will then direct you to this page where you can vote for your favourite entry piece. Remember to get all your family and friends to vote for your entry.
Terms and Conditions
Competition Rules – Characters of Jamaica: Pirates of the Caribbean Challenge 1.Original Work Only: All submissions must be 100% original and created by the participant. No copyrighted, traced, or plagiarized content. 2.No AI-Generated Content: Entries created fully or partially using artificial intelligence (AI) tools are strictly prohibited and will be disqualified. 3.Verification Requirement: Participants may be required to provide proof of creation, including sketches, drafts, or work-in-progress (WIP) files. Failure to provide adequate proof may result in disqualification. 4.Theme Alignment: Characters must be inspired by Jamaican or Caribbean pirate culture and re-imagined within a comic/anime style. 5.One Entry Per Person: Each participant may submit only one (1) character. 6.Submission Format: Artwork must be submitted in high-quality digital format (JPG/PNG/PDF). 7.Deadline: All entries must be submitted by July 31, 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted. 8.Selection & Voting: Selected entries will be showcased at AnimeCom Fest 2026 and subject to public voting at the event. 9.Prizes: Winners will be announced on Day 2 and awarded cash & prizes. 10.Attendance Requirement: Participants must be a attendee of AnimeCom Fest 2026 to be eligible to claim any prize. 11.Promotional Use: By entering, participants grant AnimeCom Fest permission to display and use submitted works for promotional and future event purposes with credit where possible. 12.Right to Disqualify: AnimeCom Fest reserves the right to disqualify any entry that violates these rules or the spirit of the competition. 13. Rule Modifications: AnimeCom Fest reserves the right to update, modify, or clarify these rules at any time to ensure fairness, clarity, and the successful execution of the competition.
